The University of Oxford’s libraries are among the most celebrated in the world, not only for their incomparable collections of books and manuscripts, but also for their buildings, some of which have remained in continuous use since the Middle Ages. The Bodleian has a special place as chief among the University’s libraries. Superior has enjoyed a long and happy relationship with the Bodleian Library for over 10 years. Over this time, we have been involved in producing exhibition support material such as postcards and bookmarks, as well as designing Christmas cards, greetings cards and giftwrap.
Superior came up with the concept of die-cut greetings cards featuring images of book covers from the Bodleian collections. As the range grew, montages were made and a series of complementary giftwraps followed. The concept’s success was confirmed last year when book giant Waterstones took on 6 of the card designs for retail nationwide.
